San Francisco

San Franscisco, home to the painted ladies, cable cars, Alcatraz and of course: the Golden Gate bridge. Known as the hippie capital of the world in the ’60. Now home to many of the wold’s largest high-tech corporations, including the headquarters of 39 businesses in the Fortune 1000.

It seems like every ‘social startup’ is hunting for it’s success in San Fran, taking ambitious high educated peopleย with it. No wonder this city is re-inventing itself constantly.ย

So if the fog cleares, or not, put on your sneakers and hit this beautiful city.

Must Visit: Golden Gate Bridge

If Chicago is known as the windy city, they should rebrand San Francisco to the foggy city.

The fog is mesmerizing and mysterious. It even has a name ‘Karl’ and it’s own Twitter profile.ย You are strolling through the city and the next thing you know, you can’t see the Golden Gate anymore.

But just when you think ‘that’s it for today’, the sun ‘s out and you get a nice tan.

Anyway. When you visit San Fran, go and check out their beautiful iconic bridge. But don’t do as almost every other tourist and just go and see it. Really experience it by crossing it by foot. When you are about halfway and you get lucky, you see these big container ships below you. You hear the fog horn and it all seems like you stepped into a Hitchcock movie.

I have a love for architecture.

The non conventional kind. So when I saw this beauty I just had to take a picture.

After a bit of research, it seems like this is an Art Deco building. So if you crossed the Golden Gate, take 5 in this magnificent place and enjoy the view.

Fishermans’ wharf

If you want herds of tourists around you, go and visit Alcatraz.

I didn’t..

If you don’t want a sh*load of tourists around you but you are a crazy animal lover who wants to enjoy sealions chattin’ and sunbathing away, you just have to visit Fisherman’s Wharf.

I did.

Heads up: do not go for a glass of whine in Fisherman’s Wharf. It will cost you so much that you will need a tequila to process the bill.
